About me…
I have embarked upon a journey that is the culmination of years of dreaming and hard work. With little more than a plane ticket, some life savings and a general idea of world geography, I am attempting to make my way north overland from the land down under to the land of my forefathers – Europe.
Essentially this site is not about me. I have a passionate distaste for those boring blogs and group emails where people tell you in regimented detail every town they have visited and bus they have caught. This blog will hopefully be a little different. The posts I will place on the site will essentially be fiction – with a dash of truth!
I intend to write stories around the events that I experience. More often than not they will be based more around the feel of a place: the aura that accompanies a place that becomes so vivid as a foreigner. Sometimes the stories may be fairly truthful with little more than a dollop of poetic licence. Other stories may be highly fictional and may simply be inspired by the experiences I have and things that I have seen. The beauty is that you have to guess what truth lies behind what I am writing about!
Consequently I wish to reiterate to those that know who I am to please not reveal any personal information about me! This site is in some ways dependent upon my anonymity, both so that the things I am writing about become detached from reality and also to try and take the focus off me as an individual.
Please feel free to post comments. I may not reply myself to any or many of these comments, but I am keen to hear what people have to say about my writing and my experiences. Also please bear with me – I am not a techhead and may struggle with the more technical side of web publishing so I apologise in advance!
Most of all – enjoy the site, and never forget that in the end we all walk the long road home!
